Hulahop’s new documentary film Diana’s List was selected among other projects to participate at this year’s Story Doc pitching workshop intended for Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern authors. The workshop is divided into two parts, the first is to be held 5-7 July in Corfu and the second 8-10 December in Athens. Story Doc was launched in collaboration with the European Documentary Network (EDN), Documentary Camous and Greek Film Centre, funded by the MEDIA programme.
Diana’s List is a film about the brave Austrian Diana Budisavljević, who performed one of the most notable charity works in the Croatian territory during World War II. Between 1941 and 1945, she saved the lives of 12,000 Orthodox, Jewish and Roma children. Some of the children saved by Diana Budisavljević from imminent death still live as testimonies of her courage. However, the fact that her act was almost completely forgotten in the post-war period is unthinkable. Six years ago, her granddaughter found her journal, and later published it. After sixty years, that finally sparked some interest in Diana Budisavljević’s charity. But on the other hand – how come her act had so long been neglected?
