On 25 May, one week before the beginning of the 20th anniversary edition of the Animafest, the second Animafest press conference took place at the small hall of the Tuškanac cinema. Hulahop production team consisting of Olinka Vištica and Vjera Matković, alongside festival art director Krešimir Zimonić, presented this year’s programme to numerous media representatives.

During six festival days, 1-6 June, the Animafest will screen more than 450 films. The Grand Competition will present 39 films, many of them multiple festival award winners, such as Please Say Something by the Irish filmmaker David O’Reilly, the 2009 Cartoon d’Or winner for best European animated film, or I Am So Proud of You by Don Hertzfeldt, the Sundance festival Grand Prix winner. The most awarded competition film is definitely Muto, the brainchild of one of the most famous Italian street artists, Blu. The programme also includes a new film by the cult Estonian animator Priit Pärn and his wife Olga, Divers in the Rain, followed by Tussilago, an interesting animated documentary by the Swede Jonas Odell and the Oscar-winning French film Logorama by Ludovic Houplain.
In addition to the competition programmes and panorama, this year’s Animafest will also hold a series of special programmes: Masters of Animation, World Studios, Focus on Swiss Animation and several special programmes. All the details pertaining to the Animafest programme are available here.
